Monday, March 01, 2010 Why you should listen to Pranav: Pranav Mistry is a PhD student in the Fluid Interfaces Group at MIT's Media Lab. Mistry is passionate about integrating the digital informational experience with our real-world interactions. Monday, March 01, 2010 Wednesday, January 13, 2010 ![]() Starting Ph.D. program at Fielding Graduate University February 1 in Media Psychology - everything I've been researching and working with for years now. The pieces are coming together. Research focus about "Digital Immigrants" and dSL: digital as a Second Language/fluency for the digital age. So much to say - this is only a new beginning. Tuesday, December 08, 2009 Recently hired a young guy, Brian, to install HDTV, wall mounts, surround sound system etc. After calling and speaking to several otheres from ads on www.craigslist.com - Brian seemed knowledgeable and responsive to questions. What a terrible experience! Brian told me to buy certain components, which I did. Well, he came and installed some of the components but he never finished the job - was scheduled to come back to hook up all the components and NO SHOW. He never returned calls. Then a few days later I was robbed. BREAK and ENTER. Robbed all of my electronics, sound system, iPods etc including the components he instructed me to buy and my computer. Learning the hard way - a very expensive lesson. Writing an article about it - surprising how many of us have been through this kind of scam. A few things to do. 1. Always check for licensing - if someone is not licensed - look for someone else. 2. Check references - at least 2-3. 3. Don't pay until job completed (I was way too trusting and paid him before job was finished) 4. Clearly state agreement and have in writing - even if it's just an email exchange.
